HORAFOSCA

At the end of September, beginning of autumn, walking through the “La Figuera” vineyard in the last light of day and contemplating the Xarel·lo still to be harvested becomes a magical moment.
A balanced wine that shows to the maximum the typicality of Xarel·lo in its natural habitat; altitude of 250 m above sea level, deep fertile soil and old vineyards with little production.

The vineyard of “La figuera” maintains the identity of those landscapes of the past, where it was common for vines to coexist with a fig tree in the middle, which, apart from the figs, provided the necessary shade for farmers and draft animals.

Vinificació

Manual harvest. Cold skin maceration in the press. Soft pressing. Static settling of the must at 16 C and controlled alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeast prior to pié de vat. Aging for 7 months in French and chestnut oak barrels with periodic batonage of the fine lees.

Nota de tast

Medium intensity aroma, with a feeling of concentration, wide in nuances, from citrus fruit like lime that evolves towards bear fruit like peach, and, if you let it breathe, you end up discovering the notes that the aging on the lees inside the barrel brings; smoked and dried fruits. In the mouth it is dry, with a medium acidity that gives it a fresh and deep effect. The tannin of the lees is gently perceived and these give us a generous body structure that gives volume and at the same time a depth of silky touch. The gustatory aroma is complex (lime, stone fruit, smoked) and persistent.
